About This Performance

“I try for a story to be told and to bring much color and difference of material to the sound in the piano,” Cooper says of her PCMS recital, which explores the audacious late sonatas of Haydn, Schubert, and Beethoven. The visionary intensity of the latter’s radiant Op. 110 sonata is prefaced here by Adès’s exploration of Dowland’s tormented song “In Darkness Let Me Dwell.”
