“These are high-powered performances with at times terrifying attack and explosive accenting… they are mightily impressive.” (Gramophone)

Drawing on inspiration from the great American poet and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson, the Emerson String Quartet approaches each performance with an insight, enthusiasm and technical mastery easily connected to its namesake.  A mix of individual strengths, combined harmonies, humor and a true love of the music fuels Eugene Drucker (violin), Philip Setzer (violin), Lawrence Dutton (viola) and David Finckel (cello) through each piece, providing a concertgoing experience that is at once challenging, beautiful and uniquely rewarding.

Watch: The Emerson Quartet record Mendelssohn's Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20 – a project which produced the Grammy-winning MENDELSSOHN: THE COMPLETE STRING QUARTETS. In this two-part documentary, Drucker, Setzer, Dutton, and Finckel talk about their experiences with the recording process, record selections of the CD and approach the music with a combination of humor and candid honesty.
