"Noel: Four Centuries of Christmas"

A musical holiday feast featuring favorite chants, hymns, carols and motets from Anonymous 4’s medieval Christmas programs On Yoolis Night, A Star in the East and Legends of St. Nicholas; British songs and carols from Wolcum Yule; and tunes from their newest recording The Cherry Tree.

The Artists

Renowned for their unearthly vocal blend and virtuosic ensemble singing, the four women of Anonymous 4 combine musical, literary, and historical scholarship with contemporary performance intuition.  Their ingeniously designed programs interweave music with poetry and narrative.  In addition to their unmatched medieval repertoire, Anonymous 4 also branch out into contemporary music.  They've premiered works by Peter Maxwell Davies, John Tavener, Steve Reich and Richard Einhorn and recently expanded their repertoire to include traditional music of America and the British Isles.
