The Artist
With his poetic style and dazzling technique, Augustin Hadelich has established himself as a rising star among the new generation of violinists. Winner of the 2009 Avery Fisher Career Grant and the gold medal at the 2006 International Violin Competition, he made his Carnegie Hall orchestral debut in January 2008 and has since appeared with orchestras throughout Europe and the United States. A committed recitalist, he has made recent appearances at Lincoln Center and the Chamber Music Society of Detroit as well as with the east coast tour of Musicians from Marlboro. Born in Italy in 1984 of German parents, Mr. Hadelich holds a diploma from the Instituto Mascagni in Livorno, as well as a graduate diploma and the Artist Diploma from the Juilliard School, where he was a student of Joel Smirnoff. He has been a participant in the Marlboro and Ravinia festivals and in numerous master-classes with renowned violinists. He has recorded two highly acclaimed recordings for Naxos, and his most recent CD of masterworks for solo violin appeared on the Avie label in 2009. Recognized as one of the leading collaborative pianists, Robert Kulek performs with some of the foremost musicians of today, including Kyung-Wha Chung, Gil Shaham, Nikolaj Znaider, Julia Fischer, Arabella Steinbacher,Viviane Hagner, Daniel Müller-Schott and Matt Haimovitz. He has concertized throughout Europe and the United States including performances with the Berlin Philharmonie and Concertgebouw in Amsterdam as well as concert sites in London, Paris, San Francisco and Carnegie Hall in New York City. He has performed on numerous occasions at major music festivals in Switzerland, the United States, Scotland and Germany. Born in Latvia and now living in the United States, Kulek received his musical training at the Mannes College of Music in New York, the New England Conservatory in Boston and Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
