The Artist

A winner of Astral Artists’ 2007 National Auditions, cellist Susan Babini has been praised for her “gorgeous, deep sound” and “liquid sense of phrasing” (Philadelphia Inquirer).  She has appeared at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall and Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and has performed as guest principal cellist and soloist with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and toured with the Mark Morris Dance Company.  She also toured Central Asia as a member of the Phoenix String Quartet, under the auspices of Carnegie Hall and the U.S. Department of State, and taught throughout Panama as part of the Tres Americas Project.  Ms. Babini has participated at the Marlboro and Tanglewood music festivals, Italy’s Spoleto Festival, and at the Yellow Barn, Delaware, and Kneisel Hall chamber music festivals.  She also recently appeared at the Chesapeake Chamber Music Festival and performed Brahms’s B Major Piano Trio and Schumann’s Piano Quartet at the Aspen Music Festival with Anne-Marie McDermott and Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg.  Susan Babini holds both a Bachelor and a Master of Music degree from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and a graduate diploma from the Juilliard School, where she was assistant to Bonnie Hampton.

A fellow Borletti-Buitoni Fellowship winner (in 2006), Lithuanian pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute has won praise for her work as both recitalist and accompanist.  A founding member of the piano trio Trio Cavatina, she appeared with PCMS during the 2009-10 season as part of that group and as accompanist to violinist Soovin Kim.  Ms. Jokubaviciute is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and the Mannes College of Music, where she studied with Seymour Lipkin and Richard Goode.  She appears regularly at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium and tours regularly with Musicians from Marlboro.
