The Artists
The recipient of the 2009 Richard Tucker Award, Stephen Costello made his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden,opening the 2009-2010 season in concert performances of Carlo in Linda di Chamounix, followed by performances of Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi. Future seasons will see his return to the Metropolitan Opera for the opening production of the 2011-2012 season as well as debuts with San Francisco Opera, the Glyndebourne Festival and the Wiener Staatsoper. He will also appear in concert in Washington, DC with soprano Ailyn Pérez and in recital on the Harriman-Jewell Series. His honors include First Prize in the 2006 George London Foundation for Singers Competition as well as First Prize and Audience Prize in the Giargiari Competition and First Prize in theLicia Albanese Puccini Foundation Competition. A Philadelphia native, Costello is a 2007 graduate of the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia.
Danielle Orlando is currently the Principal Opera Coach at The Curtis Institute of Music and serves as Master Coach on the music faculty of The Academy of Vocal Arts. She has collaborated with renowned tenor Luciano Pavarotti as accompanist, judge, and artistic coordinator for all of the Luciano Pavarotti International Voice Competitions. She also spent nine seasons working with Gian Carlo Menotti for the Festival dei due Mondi in Spoleto, Italy as an assistant conductor and coach. Ms. Orlando began her piano studies at the Settlement Music School in Philadelphia and continued at the Eastman School of Music in New York and at Temple University, where she earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance.
