About This Performance

It is a true pleasure to bring the superb bass-baritone Eric Owens back to our Series for his eighth appearance. This collaborative recital with British-Singaporean mezzo Fleur Barron—who has been hailed as a “charismatic star” by the Boston Globe—highlights Beethoven’s ode to a distant beloved, An die ferne Geliebte, before delving into the world of Mahler with the magnificent Kindertotenlieder and his collection of songs with texts drawn from the folk poetry collection Des Knaben Wunderhorn.

Beethoven: An die ferne Geliebte, Op. 98
Mahler: Kindertotenlieder
Mahler: Des Knaben Wunderhorn
