The Artists

Avery Fisher career grant recipient violinist Jennifer Frautschi has gained acclaim as an adventurous performer with a wide-ranging repertoire.  Born in Pasadena, California, she began violin studies at age three.  She was a student of Robert Lipsett at the Colburn School for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles and later attended Harvard, the New England Conservatory of Music and the Juilliard School, where she studied with Robert Mann.  Selected by Carnegie Hall for its Distinctive Debuts series, she made her New York recital debut in 2004.  As part of the European Concert Hall Organization's Rising Stars series, Ms. Frautschi also made debuts that year at ten of Europe's most celebrated concert venues.  Formerly a member of Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Two, she is a frequent guest at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.  She performs on a 1722 Antonio Stradivarius violin known as the "ex-Cadiz".  For more information on Jennifer Frautschi visit www.jenniferfrautschi.com.

Cellist Efe Baltacigil has been hailed by The Philadelphia Inquirer as "a highly individualized solo artist."  The Philadelphia Orchestra's associate principal cellist, he was selected as a member of the European Concert Hall Association's (ECHO) Rising Stars program, performing at the Barbican in London, Vienna Musikverein, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Brussels Palaix des Beaux Arts, Athens Concert Hall, Stockholm Konzerthuset, and Carnegie Hall in New York.  Born in Istanbul, Turkey, Mr. Baltacigil began violin studies at age 5 before switching to the cello at age 7.  Following training at the Mimar Sinan University Conservatory in Istanbul, he began studies at the Curtis Institute, working with Peter Wiley and David Soyer, and received his Artist Diploma in 2002.  He was awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant in 2006.  For more information on Efe Baltacigil visit www.efebaltacigil.net.

Recognized as one of today's most gifted artists and enjoying an active career as both conductor and pianist, Ignat Solzhenitsyn has won critical acclaim throughout the world for his lyrical and poignant interpretations.  Currently Conductor Laureate of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia (COP), he completed six seasons as Music Director of COP and served as its Principal Conductor for the preceding six years.  He also serves as Principal Guest Conductor of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.  An avid chamber musician, Mr. Solzhenitsyn has collaborated with the Emerson, Borodin, Brentano, St. Petersburg, and Lydian String Quartets, and in four-hand recitals with Mitsuko Uchida.  A winner of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Ignat Solzhenitsyn serves on the piano faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music.  For more information on Ignat Solzhenitsyn visit www.ignatsolzhenitsyn.com.
