About This Performance

“Caution – Musicians at Play” reads a large, hand-painted sign on the rural Vermont hilltop where, each summer, musicians from all over the world come together to explore beloved and less-known chamber works. This season’s third touring ensemble from “the classical world’s most coveted retreat” (The New Yorker) showcases four outstanding emerging singers performing vocal quartets by Brahms, Schumann, and Britten, alongside a pair of Haydn’s most inviting piano trios.

Bridget Esler, soprano; Chihiro Asano, mezzo-soprano; Patrick Bessenbacher, tenor; Lydia Brown, piano; Oliver Neubauer, violin; Judith Serkin, cello; Solomon Ge, piano

Haydn: Piano Trio in E-flat Minor, Hob. XV:31, Jacob’s Dream
Brahms: Three Duets, Op. 20
Britten: Canticle II: Abraham and Isaac
Schumann: Four Duets, Op. 78
Haydn: Piano Trio in C Major, Hob. XV:27

Running time: 75 minutes (no intermission)
