Curtis Chamber Orchestra

Overview

Part of the renowned Curtis Institute of Music, the Curtis Chamber Orchestra draws its members from the Curtis Symphony Orchestra and has performed under the batons of Christoph Eschenbach, James Levine, Zubin Mehta, Sir Simon Rattle and Wolfgang Sawallisch, among others.

Since Curtis on Tour was established in 2008, students, faculty, and alumni have performed more than 200 concerts in over 90 cities in Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Building upon the performance-focused learning philosophy of Curtis, the program offers students real-world, professional touring experience alongside celebrated alumni and faculty. In addition to performing, students also offer master classes and interactive concerts, and participate in community engagement activities. Curtis on Tour also facilitates solo performances of Curtis students and alumni with professional orchestras and recital series.

Curtis on Tour is the Nina von Maltzahn global touring initiative of the Curtis Institute of Music.
