David Lutz

David Lutz was born in Pennsylvania and studied at the University of Delaware and at Boston University. From 1978 to 2001 he was at the Vienna Conservatory and since 2001 he is full professor of vocal accompaniment at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna.

He has accompanied artists such as Lucia Popp, Robert Holl, Thomas Hampson, Hermann Prey, Nicolai Gedda, Ildiko Raimondi and many others. He has also appeared at the Salzburg Festival, the Vienna Festival, the Summer Music Vienna (Klangbogen), the Schubertiade Hohenems, the Hermann Prey Schubertiade in Vienna, the Romantic week at Schloss Grafenegg, the Carinthian Summer, the Feast of Hellbrunn, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Festival di Carpi, the Festival Musica da camera Old Jaffa / Tel Aviv, at the Dresden Music Festival and the Savonlinna Opera Festival. He has also led song master classes in many cities in Europe, the USA, Canada, South Korea and Australia.

Many radio and television recordings document the diverse repertoire of David Lutz. His discography includes recordings with Robert Holl, Ellen van Lier, Thomas Hampson, Gabriele Fontana and Peter Weber.
