David Triestram, piano

A renowned figure on the international music scene, pianist David Triestram is a favorite opera coach and Lieder collaboratorof many of today's leading singers and opera companies.  Mr.Triestram has served as the senior member of the music staff of the renowned Santa Fe Opera and in similar positions for the Netherlands Opera,Teatro La Fenice in Venice, San Francisco Opera,Virginia Opera and the Opera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. He has worked with such eminent conductors as Christoph von Dohnanyi, Edo de Waart and Kent Nagano. Last
summer he was principal coach with the Central City Opera.
In demand for his in-depth knowledge of the late 19th and early 20th century operatic repertoire, Mr.Triestram is often called upon by the leading opera houses of the world to prepare the works of Richard Strauss,Wagner, Poulenc and Berg to name a few. For the San Francisco Opera, he has been engaged for such challenging works as Lulu,Wozzeck, and Henze's Das Verrange Meer. Mr.Triestram is a frequent guest of the Amsterdam Radio Orchestra VARA, where he has prepared Wagner's Die Walkure and Les Troyens of Berlioz. Mr.Triestram also prepared the American premier of Thea Musgrave's Mary, Queen of Scots. He has worked with such legendary artists as Renata Scotto and Marilyn Horne.

In 1990 Mr.Triestram had the honor of performing at the White House in recital with soprano Alessandra Marc.

Mr.Triestram has served on the faculties of the Boston Conservatory of Music, Boston University, and the New England Conservatory of Music where he accompanied the master classes of legendary soprano Eleanor Steber. He also served as chief coach for the Yale University Opera Department. David Triestram has shared the recital stage with many well-known American singers including Ashley Putnam, Roberta Alexander, Alessandra Marc, Brent Ellis and Denyce Graves. A native of Michigan, David Triestram earned his Bachelor of Music Degree from the Oberlin Conservatory. Upon graduation, he was immediately engaged by the Santa Fe Opera where he worked for the next 15 years. Mr.Triestram currently resides in Paris.
