Robert Tweten

Robert Tweten, a native of Canada, began his career as a piano soloist after winning competitions including the Canadian National Piano Competition and the Du Maurier Search for Stars. A gifted recitalist and conductor, he has performed with many of this generation’s foremost singers, instrumentalists, and entertainers, including Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Elizabeth Futral, Catherine Maltano, Dawn Upshaw, Samuel Ramey, Thomas Hampson, Garrison Keillor, Rachel Barton Pine, The St. Lawrence Quartet, Kelsey Grammer and David Hyde Pierce in venues such as Alice Tully Hall at New York’s Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Chicago’s Orchestra Hall, Los Angeles’ Disney Hall, the Zurich Opera House, Vienna’s Konzerthaus, London’s Wigmore Hall, and the Salzburg Festival.

Also an active chamber musician, Tweten has performed often with the Taos Chamber Music Group as well as with the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival and Santa Fe Pro Musica. In demand as an operatic conductor, he has conducted throughout the US and Canada in companies including Lyric Opera of Chicago, Vancouver Opera, Utah Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, Sarasota Opera, Calgary Opera, Edmonton Opera, Opera Ontario, Opera Pacific, Madison Opera, Opera Birmingham, the Santa Fe Symphony and the New Mexico Philharmonic. He also serves as Head of Music Staff for the Santa Fe Opera.
