Schumann Trio

Schumann Trio

The Schumann Trio was conceived in 2008 by Anthony McGill, principal clarinet of the New York Philharmonic; Michael Tree, co-founder of the famed Guarneri Quartet; and Russian-born pianist Anna Polonsky, to explore the rich repertoire for clarinet, piano, and viola or violin. They chose their name in recognition of composer Robert Schumann, who called the combination of clarinet, viola, and piano, “the most romantic combination of instruments.”
