Eduardo Dutra

Eduardo Dutra was a 20th century Brazilian composer. He cultivated an appreciation for music and composition as an amateur, which is probably why little is known about his life or music. In spite of this relative obscurity, his Prelíºdio remains a gem for the piano repertoire. It was composed in 1940, with a dedication to his son, Farnesio, who became a well-known popular musician, appearing under the name Dick Farney. The piece is written in a late-romantic style, reminiscent of a lament, with a clear melody and harmonic accompaniment typical of Romanticism.
