Pianist Aaron Diehl makes his PCMS debut on 2/14 at Perelman Theater with Hidden Visionaries, a new recital program spotlighting works by Black American composers of sacred and secular music. In the same vein, Diehl was recently lauded by the New York Times for his recording of Mary Lou Williams's "Zodiac Suite" for chamber orchestra.

"While that composition has long been popular in its jazz trio form [...] her chamber version was also in need of a contemporary champion. It has found one in Aaron Diehl — a pianist widely admired in both jazz and classical circles." - Seth Colter Walls, for the New York Times

We have been looking forward to soprano Julia Bullock's return to PCMS since her recital debut with us in 2018. Her appearance this season (Thursday, 1/11) at Perelman Theater is not to be missed; this program is a NYT Critic's Pick!

"On the one hand, the evening was quintessentially her, in vocal character and preoccupations with historical and musical connections. It was also persuasive on its own, communicating swaths of feeling and meaning across two centuries of not art songs per se, but artful songs, making a case for the shared DNA of lieder, blues, the avant-garde, Broadway, radio hits and spirituals." - Joshua Barone, for the New York Times

Thank you to everyone who attended our library family concert series! On June 12 and June 13, PCMS and @wrtimusic co-presented four family concerts featuring The Dalí Quartet performing a dynamic program of works by Valerie Coleman, Franz Joseph Haydn, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Juan Bautista Plaza, and Abelardito Valdés. The concerts celebrated chamber music and the string quartet, while introducing audiences to these five composers and their musical styles.
