About This Performance

This concert is supported in part by Dr. Jeffrey L. Hough

Experience the “tremendous, completely spellbinding” (New York Classical Review) Belcea Quartet and the “flawless virtuosity” (Seen and Heard International) of Quatuor Ébène in this unique afternoon uniting two of Europe’s premier string quartets. The program celebrates two great chamber music compositions: Felix Mendelssohn’s effervescent yet profound Octet, written when the composer was just 16, and George Enescu’s imaginative and compelling Octet.

Mendelssohn: String Octet in E-flat Major, Op. 20
Enescu: String Octet in C Major, Op. 7

Running time: 1 hour and 50 minutes (including intermission)
