About This Performance

Clara Haskill Competition and MFS Career Advancement Award Winner Cynthia Raim is a pianist with “impeccable credentials and impeccable fingers… Fluency, pliability, the ability to sing, the knowledge of what a phrase might be saying in music’s elusive language–these gifts she certainly has” (Philadelphia Inquirer). Long a Philadelphia and PCMS favorite, Raim returns to PCMS with a program featuring Bach’s Goldberg Variations–music of deep humanism, optimism and intellectual complexity as played by one of today’s most gifted interpretative artists.

Haydn: Fantasia in C Major, Hob. XVII:4
Bartók: Improvisations on Hungarian Peasant Songs, Op. 20
Debussy: Estampes
Bach: Goldberg Variations, BWV 988
