As Principal Harpist of the Philadelphia Orchestra for over 20 years, Elizabeth Hainen has earned an international reputation as one of classical music’s great harp ambassadors. Hailed by the Washington Post for her “unusual presence with silky transparency,” Hainen’s return to PCMS will feature members of the Philadelphia Orchestra as well as current and former harp students. Her insightful and innovative program reaffirms why the harp continues to fascinate listeners and inspire artists with its aweinspiring harmonies and ethereal beauty.

Olivia Staton, flute
Flutist Olivia Staton was appointed Second Flute of The Philadelphia Orchestra at the start of the 2018-19 season at the age of 21, becoming the orchestra's youngest member at the time.  She is a graduate of The Juilliard School where she received a Bachelor of Music degree and studied with Jeffrey Khaner. Upon graduating, she was awarded the Peter Mennin Prize for Outstanding Achievement and Leadership in Music.… Read More
Burchard Tang, viola
A native of Maryland, Burchard Tang joined The Philadelphia Orchestra in September 1999. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in May 1999 from the Curtis Institute of Music, where he studied with Joseph dePasquale, retired Philadelphia Orchestra principal viola, and Choong-Jin Chang, the Orchestra’s current principal viola. Hannah Cope Johnson, harp
Hannah Cope Johnson is Principal Harp of the Metropolitan Opera. She was previously Principal Harp of the Sarasota Orchestra. She has appeared with major ensembles on the East coast including the Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and the Boston Symphony Orchestra among others.
