About This Performance

“The Goldmunds make a beautiful sound, elegant and transparent, with a real sense that these four players are friends both on and off the concert platform” (Gramophone). Formed ten years ago in Munich, the Goldmund Quartet debuts on our series with a program that highlights Schumann’s intensely expressive F Major Quartet and Schulhoff’s Five Pieces for Quartet, a compelling and evocative dance suite that includes a Viennese waltz and Czech folk music, among other styles.

Haydn: Quartet in D Minor, Op. 76, No. 2, Fifths
Schulhoff: Five Pieces for Quartet
Schumann: Quartet in A Major, Op. 41, No. 3

Running time: 1 hour and 35 minutes (including intermission)
