About This Performance

Violinist Joseph Lin is acclaimed for his “warm, flexible, and perfectly centered” sound and “finely honed” instincts (New York Times). Following a pair of extraordinary all-Bach recitals with the Society, the former first violinist of the Juilliard Quartet returns to PCMS with pianist Helen Huang for a program that concludes with Schubert’s epic C Major Fantasy—a music unutterably inspired, ravishingly beautiful, a tour de force of color and texture, an unpredictable and unparalleled dreamlike vision of another world.

Haydn: Violin Sonata No. 7 in F Major
Beethoven: Violin Sonata in A Minor, Op. 23
ShengThe Stream Flows (Solo Violin)
Schubert: Fantasy in C Major, D. 934

Running time: 1 hour and 35 minutes (including intermission)
