About This Performance

Celebrated as one of Scandinavia’s most outstanding pianists, Juho Pohjonen has received widespread acclaim for his intensity, thoughtfulness, and profound musicianship. His debut recital with the Society offers an afternoon of repertoire rarely heard on our series: a first half of wonderfully-ornamented baroque music by Rameau followed by a trio of Scriabin sonatas that place extreme demands on a pianist’s physical stamina and imaginative resources.

Rameau: Nouvelles Suites de pièces de clavecin
Scriabin: Sonata No. 6, Op. 62
Scriabin: Sonata No. 8, Op. 66
Scriabin: Sonata No. 10, Op. 70

This program is offered as a partnership with the John and Richanda Rhoden Arts Center at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.
