With four Grammy Awards and membership in the Hall of Fame of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Juilliard Quartet has been the gold standard of string quartet playing for seven decades. Its first PCMS appearance of the 2015-16 Season showcases a pair of masterworks alongside a PCMS-commissioned world premiere by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Richard Wernick.

Debussy: Quartet in G Minor, Op. 10

Juilliard Quartet

Founded in 1946 by Robert Mann, Robert Koff, Raphael Hillyer, and Arthur Winograd, the ever-evolving Juilliard Quartet has become a living American legend. Widely known as the “quintessential American string quartet,” from the beginning the Juilliard has been recognized for the boldness of its interpretation of the classics, with an equal and parallel tradition of championing the new.

The Perelman Theater is part of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, located on the southwest corner of Broad and Spruce Streets in Center City Philadelphia.
