About This Performance

Under the artistic direction of celebrated lutenist Thomas Dunford, the Jupiter Ensemble is at the vanguard of a powerful rediscovery of the Baroque repertoire, bringing fresh vitality to the earliest forms of chamber music. Joined by French-Italian mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre, the ensemble returns to PCMS with a  program that weaves together 18th-century portrayals of Amazons—the mythical warrior women—in dramatic stories of power, conflict, and extreme emotion.

Program includes works by Provenzale, Cavalli, Viviani, Schürmann, Pallavicino, Marais, Destouche, Vivaldi, and De Bottis.
