About This Performance

This performance was originally scheduled for January 25. Your tickets for Merz Trio will be valid for the May 24 performance.

Cellist Julia Yang and pianist Amy Yang of the award-winning Merz Trio are joined by soprano Lucy Fitz Gibbon to perform a selection of Slovak folk songs that Bartók collected and later incorporated into his Village Scenes, alongside a special arrangement of Schubert’s emotionally expansive piano trio, Shepherd on the Rock. Interwoven throughout the program are solo works highlighting Julia’s “joyful virtuosity” (South Florida Classical Review) and Amy’s “effortless finesse” (The Washington Post), culminating in Kian Ravaei’s Gulistan, a trio infused with Western and Middle Eastern influences.
