The Musicians from Marlboro touring program offers “exactly the type of concert that the classical scene needs more of” (Boston Musical Intelligencer). The second of three programs this year from classical music’s “life-giving spring” (New York Times) spotlights New York Philharmonic Principal Clarinet Anthony McGill in Brahms’s poignant Clarinet Quintet and Penderecki’s Clarinet Quartet–a darkly keening work honed at Marlboro under the guidance of the composer himself.

Anthony McGill, clarinet; Emilie-Anne Gendron, violin; David McCarroll, violin; Daniel Kim, viola; Marcy Rosen, cello

Beethoven: String Trio in C Minor, Op. 9, No. 3
Penderecki: Clarinet Quartet
Brahms: Clarinet Quintet in B Minor, Op. 115

This performance features a free pre-concert lecture at 6:45pm with Jonathan Coopersmith
