About This Performance

This concert is supported in part by Vivian and Mark Greenberg, in honor of Ann Hobson Pilot

Comprising 18 of the nation’s top Black and Latinx classical soloists, the “vibrant,” “arresting,” and “rhapsodic” Sphinx Virtuosi (New York Times) present a program that includes new commissions by Valerie Coleman and Jessie Montgomery as well as several Philadelphia premieres. This collection of works celebrates the present through creative living voices from Black and Brown communities while reflecting upon our past and paying tribute to tradition through a contemporary lens. Through this program, we hope to bring joy, discovery and hope to our long beloved and newly engaged audiences.
