About This Performance

New York Philharmonic Principal Clarinetist Anthony McGill, Grammy Award-winning mezzo Fleur Barron, and acclaimed collaborative pianist Gloria Chien debut with PCMS in a concert titled Heritage—featuring works composed or arranged expressly for their trio. Gulistan is a joyful and poignant cycle by Iranian-American composer Kian Ravaei, based on Azerbaijani, Persian, American, and English folk music. Newly-commissioned works by Valerie Coleman (exploring connections between the Harlem Renaissance and France), Gabriel Kahane, and Alex Ho complete the evening, showcasing the Afiori’s versatility across diverse styles.
