About This Performance

This highly personal recital program from Israeli violinist Itamar Zorman and Lithuanian pianist Ieva Jokubaviciute is a window into the musical world of Eastern European female composers. The music ranges from the Romanticism of Dora Pejačević’s Slavonic Sonata, written during the First World War, to Sofia Gubaidulina’s innovative Dancer on a Tightrope, a work that explores, in the composer’s words, “life as risk and art as flight into another existence.”

Women’s Voices from Eastern Europe
Kaprálová: Legend
Pejačević: Violin Sonata in B-flat Minor, Op. 43, Slavonic
Gubaidulina: Dancer on a Tightrope
Bacewicz: Slavonic Dance and Witraż (Stained-Glass Window)
Auerbach: Violin Sonata No. 3
