2017-18 PCMS Season Preview

By Brian Potter on February 19, 2017.

Dear Friends,

One of our favorite times of the year is just around the corner: the announcement of our upcoming season and the chance to chat and explore with our patrons all of the new musical adventures that await us.

In just a few weeks, patrons will be receiving our 2017-18 Season brochure in the mail, and we plan to unveil the new season online in the next 10 days.

2017-18 Season Preview

PCMS 2017-18 Season

Continuing a trend of the past few seasons, PCMS will present many new artists to our audience in 2017-18. In fact, debut performances make up nearly half of our season.

Notable first-time appearances include recitals with sopranos Barbara Hannigan and Angela Meade, bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni, pianists Benjamin Grosvenor and Kirill Gerstein, and cellist Clemens Hagen. Ensemble debuts include the Schumann, Calidore, JACK, Momenta, and Zorá Quartets plus concerts featuring clarinetist Osmo Vänskä and trombonist Nitzan Haroz as well as the LA Guitar Quartet’s long-awaited first Philadelphia appearance at the Perelman Theater.

Our 17-18 Season begins with an evening dedicated to Haydn’s magnificent Seven Last Words of our Savior on the Cross with the Orion Quartet and Robert Levin, and the Piano Series features return appearances by Sir András Schiff, Mitsuko Uchida (all-Schubert), and Pierre-Laurent Aimard (Beethoven’s tour de force Hammerklavier Sonata).

This and so much more—we look forward to sharing as many of these events with you as possible. Of course, the way to get the best seats at the most affordable price is to subscribe. If you would like a brochure and are not already on our mailing list, please email your address to our box office, and Bradford, Michelle, or Erik will put one in the mail once the brochures are printed.
