Storm Cancellations To Press

By Marina Weber on October 9, 2012.

1)  Due to the closing of the Kimmel Center, tonight's Musicians from Marlboro concert has been canceled.

2)  We have just confirmed that tomorrow night's concert with Jeremy Denk will also be canceled. We will be rescheduling this recital for later in the season and will contact you with the new date when it is confirmed.

3)  In the midst of the cancellations due to Hurricane Sandy, we were just informed that, due to medical reasons, the Pražák Quartet has been forced to cancel its upcoming US tour, including our Friday, November 2 concert at the Seaport Museum. There is a silver lining to this cancellation, however, as another wonderful ensemble—the Belcea Quartet—will join us that evening in their place with a program of late Beethoven works. More information on this performance is below.

Belcea Quartet

Friday, Nov. 2 at 8pm
Independence Seaport Museum

For Belcea violist Krzysztof Chorzelski, Beethoven’s string quartets are “among the highest challenges for any ensemble. They’re also one of the greatest musical journeys any listener or performer can ever undertake.” The November 2 program includes the composer’s “Serioso” Quartet—which shows Beethoven at his most experimental—and the tuneful, life-affirming Op. 135, his final major work.

Our offices are closed today and tomorrow—but if you have any questions pertaining to this week's programs, please feel free to call on Wednesday or email me at bpotter@pcmsconcerts.org.
