In two weeks, pianist Einav Yarden returns to PCMS with a program that includes works by CPE Bach, Haydn, and Kurtág, as well as Schumann`s Kreisleriana, Op. 16—one of the major piano works of the Romantic era, in which the composer sought to capture the contrasting sides of his own character, as well as the essence of his future wife, Clara Wieck.

Acclaimed for its profound musical insight and rare tonal beauty, the New York-based Escher Quartet arrives in Philadelphia on Wednesday, 10/30 to perform Samuel Barber`s Quartet in B Minor, Op. 11 and Florence Price`s Quartet No. 2 in A Minor. They will be joined by violist Jordan Bak, “a powerhouse musician, with a strong voice and compelling sound” (The Whole Note), for Dvořák’s American string quintet.

This season, Sphinx Virtuosi bring PCMS audiences American Form/s, a musical tapestry depicting the many sounds of American classical music. Vibrant, varied, storied, and new, the self-conducted string orchestra takes audiences on a journey through classically-framed infusions of soul, bluegrass, jazz, blues, and elements of rag.

Their program, "Broken Branches," includes works by Dowland, Monteverdi, Britten, Rodrigo, Takemitsu, Harvey, and Chaker, as well as traditional songs from the Middle East.

In two weeks, PCMS welcomes percussionist Britton-René Collins with Sphinx Virtuosi. This emerging soloist-to-watch embodies the artistry and passion of contemporary percussion performance. A Grand Prize-winner of the 2022 Yamaha Young Performing Artists Competition and the 2021 Chicago International Music Competition, Britton-René has dedicated her art to shaping a more diverse and inclusive community for all musicians.
