Jarrett Ott, baritone

Jarrett Ott is an emerging baritone with several recent and upcoming professional debuts. He hails from Pen Argyl, Pennsylvania, and is currently studying at the Curtis Institute of Music under the tutelage of Marlena Kleinman Malas.

Mr. Ott has been featured in lead baritone roles for the Curtis Opera Theatre includingĀ RinaldoĀ (Argante),Ā Dido and AeneasĀ (Aeneas),Ā Elegy for Young LoversĀ (Gregor Mittenhoffer),Ā FaustĀ (Valentin),Ā The Cunning Little VixenĀ (HaraÅ”ta), andĀ Les Mamelles de TiresiasĀ (Le Mari). In the fall of 2011, he traveled to Asia with the Curtis on Tour Chamber Orchestra, performing Mahlerā€™s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (arr. Schoenberg) in China and South Korea. He has debuted with the Atlantic Symphony Chamber Players in Boston and has been a participant at the Chautauqua Summer Music Festival with leading roles inĀ Le Nozze di FigaroĀ (Count Almaviva),Ā Lā€™elisir dā€™amoreĀ (Belcore),Ā The CrucibleĀ (John Proctor), and the title role inĀ Gianni Schicchi. Recently, he performed the lead role of ā€œInmanā€Ā in a workshop of Pulitzer Award-winning composer Jennifer Higdonā€™s upcoming operaĀ Cold MountainĀ with Opera Philadelphia.

In the 2013-14 season, Mr. Ott will be making his Carnegie Hall debut as a soloist with the New York Choral Society. This season he will also be performing Ned Roremā€™sĀ Evidence of Things Not SeenĀ with Mikael Eliasen, as well as performing Ralph Vaughan Williamsā€™Ā A Sea SymphonyĀ with Riverside Symphonia, and singing roles inĀ Dialogues des carmĆ©litesĀ andĀ La CenerentolaĀ at Curtis.
